Sleeping at noon

After another long flight and not so long drive with a car we have finally made it back to Slovenia. It was a long travel all together, more than 24 hours combined, most of them stuck on the plane. Luckily I was able to sleep quite a lot on the plane and when I was not sleeping I had a chance to watch some movies from last year I didn’t had a chance to catch up to yet.

Anyway I’m home now, preparing to have lunch and then probably going to sleep at noon. I’ll guess I’ll fight it in the following days.

Now that I’m home I’ll be able to go through the total of 4000 photos we’ve accumulated over the duration of our trip and post the interesting ones here. I also have some interesting stories to write about second half of our trip where I was without my computer.

Almost home

After about 14h of flight we have made it to Abu Dhabi, only 9 more hours and we will be in Venice.

The flight was calm for most of the way, expect over India there was quite a lot of turbulence for an hour or two. We had great luck with seats and got the seats at the emergency exit with like 2 meters of leg room. Despite all it’s still uncomfortable to sleep in small seats with lots of noise for 12 hours. Oh well we will soon be home.

Last Night in Australia :(

We survived the long 15h bus drive from Gold Coast to the Sydney yesterday. We arrived to Sydney little before 8 am and had hours to spend till 3pm when we had check in in a hotel in the city. We chose the hotel in the city because we have something planned for tomorrow and we need to be in the city center before 7am.

In the morning we explored city center on foot a bit more, went to see the big market/mall house and after reading much recommendations decided to go to lunch on fish market. Spoiler alert it was crap and not worth either the time nor money.

In the afternoon we met with Veronika’s relatives who brought us luggage we left in their house for our backpacking tour of the north. After that we took a quick nap. Despite sleeping quite a lot during our drive in the night we were still very tired, I guess bus chairs and tons of interruptions due to stops don’t make for a good sleeping conditions.

In the evening we went for a long walk to the botanical gardens and saw opera and harbour bridge again. Today is our last night in Australia during this trip. We are quite sad it had ended already, but frankly don’t have much time to think about it since we are rushing to prepare our suitcases for tomorrow when at 3PM we will leave Australia.

Stuck at Gold Coast

Gold Coast , Australia

Today we woke up before 6am in order to prepare for departure from Queensland back to Sydney. Just before we left our hotel room we sadly got the message that our flight to Sydney was cancelled due to weather conditions. After unsuccessfully trying to contact our flight operator we had no other choice but to go to the airport and sort it out.

Sunrise from our hotel room at 52nd floor.

At the airport it was even bigger mess, lots of people wot the same problems. All airlines had canceled flights to Sydney, next available flight was only on Sunday morning, which is way to late because we have to catch our flight back to Europe then.

We tried to rent a car but the price was over 500€, since we would have to leave the car in Sydney.

After literary hours of search we found a bus for “only” 100€ that will drive for more than 16 hours. But at least we will reach Sydney by tomorrow morning.

What a shame, due to this delay, we lost 2 days in Sydney and will in total do more than 3000km with a bus. 🙁
